Owner of the La Aurora hacienda and founder of the mill that has the same name. He is the father of Caridad and Santiago, children of his marriage to Matilde Vallecilla de Solaz, and father of Maximiliano, son of his relationship with the black Sixta Lucumí. He has no racial or social class prejudices and believes in the family as an important nucleus that must be sustained at all costs. From his point of view, infidelity does not conflict with affection and respect for his wife. He is a considerate employer and generous with his workers. Condescending and susceptible to manipulation by those close to him, especially Caridad. He is permissive and tolerant with Santiago but severe and very demanding with Maximiliano.

Proud and attractive black maid at the service of Manuel María Solaz's estate, with whom she has a passionate romance from which her son Maximiliano emerges. When Matilde, the wife of her employer, finds out about the child's birth, Sixta is taken from her arms and she is forcibly banished. For this reason, in a gesture of pain and with the hope that her life will do her justice, Sixta curses Matilde and all of her offspring until what was separated by the Solaz unites again.

She is a very beautiful and refined woman, daughter of Santiago Solaz and Ana Julia Becerra. She was raised by her aunt Caridad in an overprotection capsule with the secret purpose of preventing her from also being a victim of Sixta's curse. She adores and respects her grandfather Manuel María, she loves her father even though she knows that she can expect little from him. She is oblivious to class or race prejudices, she is very much in love with her cousin Ignacio of hers.

Son of the marriage of Maximiliano Solaz and Celia Mancilla. Grandson of Manuel María and Sixta. He knows the pain of his father's life and wants to do justice to Sixta and her descendants. He grew up under the care of his mother in dignified conditions and with the distant affection of his grandfather Manuel María. Since childhood he has a very close bond with his cousin Mariana de él despite the obstacles that stand in the way and Caridad's efforts to separate them. He is a man of character, well educated and well educated. The racial prejudices that surround him have not been an obstacle to feeling like a Solaz.

Daughter of Manuel María and Matilde. She is heiress to the La Aurora hacienda and sugar mill, along with Santiago, Maximiliano and her descendants. From adolescence to old age, she is a woman with a strong and authoritarian character; she is distrustful, possessive and breathes bitterness. She is haunted by the ghost of her mother, she blames her father for the misfortunes that befall the family from Sixta's curse. She exerts a lot of influence on Manuel María and on Santiago. She is incapable of showing affection. Although she does not admit it, she associates sexuality with sin and punishes herself physically and emotionally for feeling any such impulse. She takes refuge in prayer to purge her guilt.

Humble, simple and reliable courtier from La Aurora. He is the trusted man of Manuel María Solaz, protector of Sixta, Maximiliano and Ignacio. He fears that the wrong actions of the Solaz are the true power of Sixta's curse. His loyalty is incorruptible. He respects Manuel María and is loyal without limits. He protects Sixta and is his friend under the same conditions that bind him to Manuel María. When Manuel María introduces him to Paisa, Lucio and the newcomer already know that they are enemies and remain so for the rest of their lives.

Sister-in-law of Manuel María. She never married and is ruined for having lost every penny of the inheritance that her parents left her. She holds many resentments and bitterness. She envy the lives of her younger sisters, Matilde and Alejandrina. She feels a lot of resentment towards her brother-in-law because he is now the owner of the land that originally belonged to her family. Caridad sees her niece as her great rival and she uses Santiago as an instrument against the Solaz.

Trusted employee of Manuel María Solaz. He has a superiority complex that leads him to mistreat workers and abuse women. He is arrogant, arrogant and has no scruples. He takes advantage of his status as a protected nephew of priest Pedro Nel to earn a place of preference in the Solaz family circle. He likes to snoop. He emboldens Alejandrina with the promise of a marriage that will never come.
